Negative comments may actually pose a health risk. Sarcasm, criticism and put-downs have been proven to increase abnormalities in heart rate. (Of course this includes our own self-criticism and put-downs of ourselves.) The heart aberrations were as significant and measurable as those from heavy workouts or pre-attack myocardial chest pains.

All negative criticism contains hidden agenda
on the part of the critic.

Two excellent books - both by Patricia Evans, an interpersonal communications specialist - are "The Verbally Abusive Relationship" and "Controlling People".
