Energy Detox: for better health
All body systems are crippled if the detoxification system is not in good
working condition. Although it is the most underrated of all the systems taught
about in medical schools, its function determines the level of health in
every other system of the body.
Detoxification happens in two phases. In phase I the detox chemistry
merely moves electrons around. This shifting of electrons through a
variety of choices (oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis) prepares an anchor
site for phase II. But not all results of this dance of electrons are favorable.
Sometimes we
create even more toxic substances, as is common with chemicals that
outgas from plastics, like vinyl chloride and styrene, as well as the tricholoroethylene found in U.S. water supplies, for example. Yes,
unfortunately the body actually can use phase I to create a more potent
cancer-causing chemical than the original compound. Cancer-causing expoxides and DNA adducts (that trigger cancer genes) are
not unusual,
especially if the system was unable to make the chemical less toxic,
either because of competition or overload from other chemicals.
(Magnesium is a mineral that is very important for phase I
detoxification. Yet the average Western diet only provides about 40%, or
less than half the amount that we need in a day. Furthermore, studies
reported in the “Journal of the American Medical Association” showed that,
even though over half of the hospitalized population is dangerously low in
magnesium, over 90 per cent of doctors fail to even order a test for
magnesium, much less the right test. Unfortunately, many of these people
die from their undiagnosed magnesium deficiencies.
And when doctors do order a magnesium test, it's the wrong one. They
order the less sensitive serum magnesium. Less than 1 per cent of the
body’s magnesium is in the serum. The infinitely more useful test is the RBC (red blood cell) magnesium. Do not settle for a serum assay.)
Phase II of detoxification in the liver is a bit trickier. Now that
electrons have been moved around on the surface of the chemical, the body
can hook a large molecule onto the chemical at that prepared anchor site.
This is called conjugation: all this big word means is “married” or
coupled. This makes the unwanted chemical heavy and polar (electrically
charged), so it’s easier for the body to drag the chemical out of the
blood stream and into the liver, from where it is eventually excreted in the stools.
Research suggests that detoxification ability in
general will vary between three- and five-fold from person to person. One
study in Hawaii showed that people with various ethnic backgrounds had up to
twenty-fold differences in detoxification ability. That is an amazing
difference. The data also suggests that almost one-third of the variation is
associated with diet. The implication is that some need to work harder
than others to amplify their ability to detoxify.
Contrary to what most believe, even the best
detoxifiers don't get rid of
most daily toxins. Our bodies are laboring (some much more than others,
obviously), since they are not
designed for such a polluted world. The toxins stealthily accumulate until
one day, years later, we suddenly awaken with an illness. It really
doesn't matter "what kind" since all symptoms are due to toxicity. And, in
a vicious cycle, the body is less and less able to detoxify as it
gets more and more toxic.
Energy Detox
gives the body the needed boost to start to return integrity to
the body,
enabling it
to reverse the decades of accumulated poisons.
It does not
treat disease.
