Energy Detox: for improved health
Our bodies are
composed almost entirely of
water
and minerals. We are
made up of very little else.
The earth is made of
minerals and so are we. Minerals in our body activate all the catalysts
for enzymatic reactions in the body. They activate the vitamins and all
the organ structures. Minerals are the builders of the system. In fact,
they are the basis of all the organ and cellular structures of the body.
Without the
essential minerals and trace minerals, we could not survive. Sixty out of
the ninety essential nutrients the body needs are minerals. Unfortunately,
not all the minerals we need to support vibrant life, free of disease, are
present in our food supply nowadays. Greedy agricultural practices have
grossly depleted the mineral reserves in our soils.
The late William
Albrecht, a food scientist, said in the late 1930’s that, if we do not
begin to replenish our farm lands with minerals, we will experience an
epidemic of chronic degenerative disease such as the world has never seen
– and in as little as 50 years. Today chronic degenerative disease makes
up over 80% of all illness, and ultimately death, in all industrialized
nations. I believe we are now reaping the consequences of this serious
mineral depletion.
The latest evidence
is that our major mineral deficiency is magnesium, not calcium. The
symptoms of both appear similar and cannot easily be distinguished.
Magnesium is at least as important as calcium for bones, for relaxing
muscles, and for soothing and calming the body. Insufficient magnesium in
the body increases susceptibility to many diseases, including heart
disease, cancer, kidney stones, high blood pressure, cramps, PMS,
insomnia, osteoporosis, bronchial asthma, diabetes, migraines,
fibromyalgia, and ADD/ADHD.
In fact, the
minerals we tend to be most deficient in are
magnesium, zinc,
lithium and selenium. Zinc and selenium are powerful antioxidants; lithium
is most useful for those with either brain/memory function problems or
anger-management issue. Usually it is necessary to supplement with
magnesium before the body can use any of the others we may be deficient
in, as magnesium levels are woefully inadequate in our fruits and
vegetables today, due to modern methods of farming.

The symptoms of
magnesium deficiency include fatigue, mental confusion, irritability,
weakness, heart disturbance, problems in nervous conduction and muscle
contraction, muscle cramps, loss of appetite, insomnia, and predisposition
to stress. 300-500 mg per day, in the form of magnesium citrate, is
recommended as a basic supplement. A pregnant woman needs double.
Note: for a mineral
to be utilized in the body, within the cells particularly, it must be in
angstrom-size (an infinitesimal measurement) or ionic form (one-thousandth
of a micron and one-millionth of a meter). Few mineral supplements on the
market are angstrom-size and these minerals will be absorbed by the blood
but are too large to be absorbed into the cells or into the nucleus; they
just build up inside our bodies, creating even more toxicity.
