Restate a problem in different terms, using completely different words.
Restate the question in many different ways before trying to come up with
solutions. Looking at the problem in a different light can often lead to
insightful solutions straight off.
Write down the problem and ask others (the more different from you the
better) to write down a different statement of the problem, using none of
the words used in your initial statement. So, "how can we increase sales"
could be expressed as "What actions could lead to more revenue?" or "Why
shouldn't the company get more money from customers/clients?" Each
restatement is written out and the different perspectives are used as
triggers for a brainstorming session.
Creativity
requires spending time "doing nothing" - workaholism guarantees its
death
