Behavioral and social skills are best improved in
the following ways:
 |
spend more time socializing
|
 |
strengthen your closest relationships
|
 |
develop a more outgoing, social personality
(more
extravert than introvert)
|
 |
be a better friend
|
 |
become more active
|
 |
become more involved with meaningful work
|
 |
change the way you think
|
The last technique is so successful that a whole
school of therapy has grown up around it, called cognitive therapy.
Thinking more positively automatically make the previous six
suggestions become much easier to adopt. It is a collection of
techniques that share the
goal of making interpretations of events rational and realistic.
Happy people are socially skilled and think differently from unhappy
ones in a number of ways. They have a positive view of everything,
realistic goals and a purpose in life, can see the funny side of
things,
do not blame themselves when bad things happen and believe they can
control what happens (to and around them).
One of the best ways of shoring up self-belief and simultaneously
taking the first step to success is to view your life as a project,
with you as project manager in chief. As in every good project, you
need to have a clear, overarching vision of what you want to
achieve, broken down into smaller goals, or milestones. At this
point, it’s a good idea to start with a 10-year plan or (if you
naturally think in the shorter-term) a 5-year plan. When you
think of long-term goals, it helps to be flexible. When it comes to
short-term goals, i.e. next week or next month, it helps to be very
specific and targeted.
