This TICK test will help you to discover more about yourself and your abilities and is a great help when making plans and weaving dreams for the future. It can be an eye-opener and some have found it particularly useful when shared around a table with colleagues and with their families.

T        Talents

Even the most high-powered people don't realise how many things they are good at. Make a list of all the talents you have, no matter how big or small, in every area. of your life. Discovering just how many things you can do is the solid basis for your future.

I         Interests

List the interests you have, in as much detail as possible. What interests do you follow and which ones do you neglect? What would you love to spend more time doing? Do you spend time on things which have nothing to do with your job? Can you happily talk to a stranger at a party about something which interests you? What talents have you closed down, due to pressure of work or anxiety about success or failure?

C        Challenges and choices

What do you want to do with the whole of your life? What kinds of choices have you made so far? What challenges excite and inspire you?

K        Kindness

How kind are you towards yourself? Do you look after yourself, recognise what you need and provide it - for instance rest, a break, a change? Or are you tough, intolerant and demanding towards yourself? When someone gives you a compliment, do you accept it? Positive comments from others provide us with `the wind beneath our wings', and should be valued.

When you have done the TICK test, look at the results you've come up with and see what stands out for you. Perhaps there is something you have always wanted to do, or a skill you would love to develop, or something you really enjoy but which you have had very little time for.

Now is the time to start making these things a reality, to make them part of your future plans and then put those plans into action. Not only will you enjoy life more, but you will become a more fully rounded human being.

The TICK test is all about finding a whole new way of looking at yourself and your future. What might you yet become and do? Anything you choose!
